Papers, ca. 1945-2000.

Contains a letter describing Mathis's military experiences. Discusses his flight training and contact with other LDS servicemen in training. Recounts his bombing missions in the Pacific, with special mention of one missionin which he was inexplicably relplaced on the crew and the plane subsequently crashed, killing all on board. Mathis credited his survival to divine intervention. Photographs show Mathis in full military dress and with his bombing crew in front of their B-29.
